Free Outdoor Activities

Jonas Hotel is based just a short drive from the Peak District. We’re also surrounding by a number of parks so we wanted to give you some recommendations of activities to do in the great outdoors whilst you’re staying with us!

Cliffhanger

Cliffhanger is Sheffield’s festival dedicated to celebrating outdoor activities. This year it takes place on Friday 6th July until 8th July at a number of locations around the city. There’s live music, demonstrations, activities and plenty of food outlets to explore. The British Bouldering Championships also takes place at the event and it’s not one to be missed. The best part is the whole festival is absolutely FREE!!

Bike Ride

We’re so lucky to be within biking distance to the Peak District and it’s a great way to see so many areas in a day. There are a range of cycle hire centres across the Peaks and we are also introducing our very own Jonas bikes soon so keep an eye out for the announcement! If you’re planning an event with friends speak to the team about making a group booking to stay with us, we have large communal kitchens so you can cook with each other and there’s also some great local pubs and restaurants nearby.

Walk

A good old fashioned walk in the nearby parks is perfect on a sunny day. We’re a five-minute walk from both Botanical gardens and Endcliffe park so you can have a leisurely stroll to both. If you’re walking through Endcliffe park we’d recommend venturing to Forge Dam for an ice-cream before turning back! For those of you that are more experienced ramblers then check out the walks you can do in the Peak District, the Chatsworth House to Bakewell option is one of our favourites.

Graves Park

If you’re looking for something for the whole family to do, then Graves Park is perfect. They have a free animal farm and playground and even free parking! It’s a popular attraction amongst Sheffield folk and perfect for all ages.
